The 19th annual “Just Build It Career Expo” will be held on Wednesday, October 26th in the Eastern Michigan University Field House. This is a hands-on career exploration experience with many presenters and live demonstrations. Imagine climbing a 2 story vertical, iron column, operating drones in simulated engineering and construction projects, creating an interior design, operating construction equipment using simulators, talking to engineers about design principles, laying a brick wall, soldering pipes or beating a master carpenter in a spike driving contest. These are but a few of the many exhibits and presenters you will be exposed to at the “Just Build It Career Expo” at EMU. At the end of your experience a free pizza lunch and t-shirts will be provided. There are limited spaces left. Come to the counseling office and sign up ASAP to attend this highly recommended event.
Hear ye! Hear ye! Free Cottage Inn pizza and pop on Wednesday, Oct. 12 for those attending “Lunchtime Career Talks” in the choir room. We will welcome Laura Wetzel, a Nurse Anesthetist at the University of Michigan C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital.
American Field Service offers life changing experiences in more than 75 countries. If you are interested in becoming a high school exchange student and would like more information about it, AFS will be visiting next Wednesday, October 12th. Sign up is in the Counseling Office.
Attention juniors and seniors: The new 2017-2018 FAFSA is here and students are able to file now. A Financial Aid Workshop will be held on Thursday, October 13th at 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium. This popular annual event features Vickie Crupper from the University of Michigan, and is a very informative meeting that you won’t want to miss. Please be sure to share this information with your parents.
There will be a Spanish club meeting on Thurs. Oct. 13th at 7:35 a.m. in Mrs. Cole's room. Students who would like to buy a fun Spanish Club t-shirt but haven't yet, be sure to bring your money! Also, come prepared to start planning our fall event.
Want to get a bit of culture without having to travel across continents? Come on down to Mrs. Sinacola’s
room 134 for an informational meeting regarding a trip to Chicago this Wednesday at 7:45. All are welcome!
As a result of our shoe drive last week, seventy vaccines will be purchased to prevent tetanus and save the lives of women and children in Africa. Thanks so much to all who participated. Your generosity is appreciated. A special thanks to our staff, who donated the most shoes and won the competition.
